Kodak Black is actually serving a longer prison sentence than originally thought

Rapper Kodak Black, who spent six months in jail in 2017 while on probation, handed out turkeys to thousands of people in South Florida while serving an 18-month prison sentence.

The 20-year-old rapper arrived at an Atlanta airport last week and went to a meeting with a probation officer, who suspended his drug- and weapons-possession probation and put him in a Fulton County jail, court documents show. The sentence included his eight years on probation, which involved providing for his girlfriend and children in South Florida.

Kodak Black, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, was among the most in-demand rappers in the country after his breakout single “Look at Me!” reigned atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2015, generating more than 300 million streams and selling more than two million copies.

He was initially sentenced to a two-year jail term on weapons charges from his arrest in South Florida. A judge placed him on supervised probation, which included periodic random drug and alcohol testing, during the prison sentence in July 2015.
